One truck and a kitchen table
Frank Alvarado opens a one-truck shop in Laguna Beach after fifteen years as a union pipefitter. His first customers are neighbors in Bluebird Canyon and North Laguna, and they tell their neighbors.

Our story
Frank Alvarado spent fifteen years as a union pipefitter before deciding the work he loved most happened in people’s homes. In 1987 he bought a used truck, set up an office at the kitchen table and answered every call himself. Laguna’s hillside homes, canyon cottages and oceanfront condos each have their own plumbing quirks, and Frank learned them one repair at a time.
The family grew into the business the same way. Marisol took over the phones, Daniel took up the trade and Elena brought a customer-first mindset. The shop has more trucks and more tools than it did, but the rule has not changed: do the job right once, charge what you promised, and leave the house cleaner than you found it.

1990s
The business grows the old-fashioned way: a job done well on one street leads to a call from the next. Frank keeps one promise on every visit, which is to tell the customer the price first.
1999
Frank’s wife Marisol takes over the office and builds the dispatch system that still keeps us on time. Calls are answered by a person, trucks leave with a plan and customers stop waiting by the window.
2008
Their son Daniel earns his journeyman card and starts the sewer camera and trenchless repair side of the business. Lawns and driveways stay in one piece, and the shop takes on bigger jobs.
2016
Daughter Elena Alvarado-Reyes joins to lead customer care and our commercial accounts along the coast. Restaurants, hotels and property managers get one number to call and one person who knows their buildings.
Today
A crew of licensed plumbers and apprentices, more than 12,000 service calls behind us and the same family on the other end of the line. Call today and hear it for yourself.
What we stand for
They are not slogans. They are the habits Frank started with and the rest of the family kept.
You get a written, flat-rate price before we pick up a wrench. If we find something new, we stop and ask first.
Shoe covers, drop cloths and a clean sweep when we finish. We treat your floors like our own mother’s.
We would rather spend an extra hour finding the real cause than send you a second bill for the same leak.
Real arrival windows, a text when we are on the way, and a call if anything changes.
The track record
We do not chase big numbers for their own sake. This is simply what 39 years of answering the phone looks like.
Emergency arrivals typically run 60 to 90 minutes in Newport Beach and Dana Point.
Credentials
Letting a plumber into your home is a matter of trust. Here is what stands behind every ABC Plumbing visit, and you are welcome to ask us about any of it when you call.
California contractor’s license
CSLB #C-000000
You can look us up with the state licensing board any time. The same number is printed on every truck, estimate and invoice.
Work is done by licensed plumbers, or by apprentices working under a journeyman’s direct watch. Our contractor’s license number is on every truck, estimate and invoice.
General liability and workers’ compensation coverage on every job, so your home and our crew are protected. Need a certificate for your HOA or property manager? Ask when you call.
Every plumber and office team member is background-checked and drug-tested before their first day. They wear a uniform with their name on it, so you always know who is in your home.
Apprentices follow a state-approved program, journeymen keep up with code changes every year, and our specialists train on new water heater, tankless and leak detection equipment.
Our community
The Alvarados have lived and worked along this coast for decades, and giving back is part of how we do business. We do not make a fuss about it. We just show up.
Want a safety talk for your neighborhood group, or a spot at the next clean-up? Call and ask for Elena.
A few mornings each year the crew trades wrenches for trash grabbers and works the sand at Main Beach and the coves below Heisler Park. Gloves and buckets are on us.
We visit local homeowner groups for a relaxed talk with no sales pitch: how to find and test your main shutoff, what to do in the first minutes of a leak, what never belongs down a drain, and how to spot a tired water heater.
Meet the family
A real person picks up, gives you an honest read on the problem and a firm price before any work starts. That is how Frank ran the shop in 1987, and it is how we run it today.
Office open 7 days a week. Emergency plumbers on call 24/7.
